Application Process
Certificate applications will be accepted on a rolling basis
Allow four weeks for response. Please note that students may take individual certificate courses without applying to earn the certificate (see our FAQ page). Certificate Applications should include the following:
- Completed application form (download form);
- Personal statement describing your interest in this program. What are your objectives and goals in enrolling in this program? Does the certificate relate to your current or future work plans? Have you been involved in previous work or volunteer activities that are relevant to the certificate? Describe your educational background and experience as it relates to this certificate program. Maximum 5 pages;
- Official transcript of your previous education, with a minimum 2.75 GPA;
- Current resume or CV;
- $100 non-refundable application fee (make check out to "UCCS Matrix Center").
Once you have been notified of your acceptance in the certificate program (or if you just want to begin taking courses without formally applying to the certificate program), you will need to apply to the Extended Studies Program at UCCS. Download the application/registration instructional packet. Follow all steps closely to apply for non-degree graduate admission. Once you have your 9-digit UCCS Student ID, then proceed to claim your myUCCS student portal account, where you will be able to register for certificate courses at your discretion. Whenever you register for a course, you will need the 5-digit Class Number which identifies your course in the UCCS online registration system. You will find Class Numbers by accessing the course lists at the "Course Offerings" page. IMPORTANT: DO NOT apply via the UCCS Admissions Office, as this program is administered by the UCCS Extended Studies Program.
You must complete twelve (12) total credit hours to earn this certificate. Choose any combination of offerings. Please be advised that, although courses offered by partner organizations listed at this web site do count toward the certificate requirements, you must take at least one course offered directly by UCCS, i.e. any of the Independent-Progress Online courses, Inclusive Teaching/Knapsack Institute, or Intersections of Privilege.
